Victor has held the position of Leeds United Director of Football since 2017 in which time the club won promotion to the Premier League under manager Marcelo Bielsa.

He started out as a football journalist and a football agent, before his first job with a football club came when he joined Real Valladolid as part of the Coaching Staff at the club.

He left Valladolid to join La Liga side Sevilla FC where he became Technical Director and was responsible for the recruitment of players and the technical side of the club and the academy.

After leaving Sevilla in 2013, Orta was approached by Juventus F.C. and ACF Fiorentina to join them and also a role in the Qatar Football Association to oversee recruitment in the Qatari league, however he turned down the roles to join Russian side Zenit Saint Petersburg in 2013, working alongside manager Luciano Spalletti as the club’s Sporting Director.

In June 2014, Orta returned to Spain as Sporting Director of Elche CF, then a year later joined Middlesbrough to work as Head Of Recruitment to work with Head Coach Aitor Karanka. In Orta’s, first season at the club, Middlesbrough gained promotion to Premier League.
